History of the Brick Farm

The site of Brick Farm Ice Cream is home to the Bragdon family. Harvey Huntoon built the brick farmhouse in 1841 from bricks made in his brick yard in this area.

According to Highlights in History of Unity, N.H., many brick buildings in the area and in Newport were built from bricks from the Huntoon brick yard.

If you have any information on the Harvey Huntoon family, we would love for you to share it with us.

Brick Farm Ice Cream began in 2001. 2005 will be our 5th year of providing great ice cream from our seasonal stand beside the old dairy barn.

In 1840 Unity's population was 961. In 2000, Unity's population was 1530, spread out over its 37 square miles of area. Unity remains a rural community. Take a short drive, enjoy the scenery, and relax with a cool treat at Brick Farm.

The Bragdon's have always loved great ice cream. Brick Farm is also home to the Good Humor Ice Cream Man and his antique truck often seen on summer evenings in the Newport area. Learn more about the Good Humor Ice Cream man and his truck
