History of Brick Farm

Brick Farm Ice Cream is located on Lear Hill Road in East Unity, just one mile from NH Route 10. The brick farmhouse was built by Harvey Huntoon in 1841 with bricks from the Huntoon brick yard which was located in this area.

According to Highlights in History of Unity, N.H., many brick buildings in the area and in Newport were built from bricks from the Huntoon brick yard.

The Bragdon family now occupies the home and opened the seasonal ice cream stand beside the old dairy barn in 2001. They began making their own ice cream in 2009. Brick Farm Ice Cream celebrates their 10th Birthday in 2011.

In 1840 Unity's population was 961. In 2000, Unity's population was 1530, spread out over its 37 square miles of area. Unity remains a rural community. Take a short drive, enjoy the scenery, and relax with a cool treat at Brick Farm.

The Bragdon's have always loved great ice cream. Brick Farm is also home to the Good Humor Ice Cream Man and his antique truck often seen on summer evenings in the Newport area.
