Bragdon Expands Ice Cream KnowledgeTracy Bragdon, owner of Brick Farm Ice Cream in Unity participated in an intensive four-day seminar in State College, PA on operating a retail ice cream business. The course covered such areas as financial costing and planning, employee relations, store layout, business expansion and a strong emphasis on manufacturing quality ice cream. The course, now in its seventeenth year, was led by Dick Warren, owner and "Chief" of Four Seas Ice Cream on Cape Cod and Bill Meagher, owner of Lakeside Creamery in Deep Creek Lake, MD. The hands-on, interactive course drew participants from ten states plus Canada. The course, designed for small shop entrepreneurs, brought into focus every day realities of running a quality, service-oriented ice cream shop. It also provided an opportunity to network with other ice cream retailers across the country, to share problems and solutions with other entrepreneurs. Brick Farm Ice Cream, located at 434 Lear Hill Road in Unity, will open for its fourth season of serving premium ice cream products on Saturday, May 1st. |
